Our Adoption Process
Whether from the foster's home, or at an adoption event these are the steps we take:
Dogs: If the adopter has a dog and is looking for a companion, we require them to bring their dog for a meet and greet. If the dogs get along, and the people decide this is the dog for them, or they are getting their first dog, there is a two page questionnaire they fill out. If the answers satisfy our criteria, we proceed with the adoption agreement. The fees for dogs is $170 and it includes the sterilization, shots, and the adoption fee.
Cats: We encourage the potential adopter to interact with the cat as long as they want (and as long as the cat permits). During that time, the discussion of declawing versus clipping nails is brought up, and we educate people about declawing and offer alternative methods of keeping kitty from destroying their furniture. If the adopter have decided on adopting a cat, there is a two page questionnaire they fill out. If the answers satisfy our criteria, we proceed with the adoption agreement. The fees for cats are $80 or if they have been Felv tested, $100. The fee includes sterilization, shots and (where applicable) the Felv test as well as the adoption fee.
